The ATAC Research Fund supports full time adrenal cancer research, a patient clinic located at Scottsdale Healthcare and resources dedicated only to Adrenocortical Carcinoma (adrenal cancer). Also known as cancer of the adrenal cortex or ACC, this research project is in the process of translating clinical findings into more effective treatments for Adrenocortical Carcinoma patients and to ultimately discover a cure.
The ATAC Research Fund is located at the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) in Phoenix, Arizona. TGen is currently leading the most comprehensive Genomics adrenal cancer study to date and the ATAC Research project is now one of the leaders in adrenal cancer research worldwide. TGen is one of the few facilities in the world that houses such a vast array of technologies and to this date has the largest biomedical super computer anywhere. Many of these technologies have never before used on ACC research and in some cases never used on any other cancer research. TGen has and will continue to discover groundbreaking technologies and hopeful new targets, producing more Adrenocortical Carcinoma (ACC) data than ever before.
In the past 40 years, little progress has been made toward finding an effective treatments for adrenal cancer, with only one drug called Mitotane (a derivative of DDT) being approved in the last 40 years, it is obvious that new drugs need to be tested. Adrenocortical Carcinoma affects only one or two people in a 1.7 million people and is often difficult to collect enough adrenal tumors to analyze, which is why the TGen study is so significant. With you support we can find new treatments for this devastating and rare form of adrenal cancer.

VOLUNTARY ACC PATIENT SURVEY
The Adrenocortical
Cancer
Patient Survey has been set up because many ACC survivors and their
families
have requested more information on what fellow ACC survivors are
experiencing.
The information you enter will be collected and shared with others
taking the
survey, in order to help them better deal with this rare disease. The
information in the survey will also help inform future research efforts
for ACC.
The survey is detailed and
includes questions relating to personal information like health history,
but
the results will be anonymous. AT NO TIME WILL YOU BE ASKED TO PROVIDE
YOUR
NAME, IDENTIFYING INFORMATION or CONTACT INFORMATION. Reports
available to you and researchers
will include only summaries of the data collected and no individual
surveys
will be available.
